The main trailhead for hiking the NaPali Coast is on the north shores of Kauai.
We set off on the popular Kalalau trail without knowing what to expect. The first mile or so was loaded with tourists but the further we got down the trail the less populated it became. The views were stunning, the terrain steep, the mud thick, the trail slippery and the rain endless… but the memories were unforgettable.
Once I got over the fact that the trail was more populated than I expected I began to appreciate where I was and how beautiful the mountains, lush green jungle and the rugged coast truly were.
Rainbows formed in all directions. Waterfalls, streams and rivers were plentiful. There were endless miles to explore and we only touched the tip of the iceberg on this trip.
I anticipate our return and hiking deeper into the wilderness when Ellie is a few years older.
